Uploading to Google Ads

Learn how to import your WonderAds CSV file into your Google Ads account — either through Google Ads Editor (recommended) or directly via the Google Ads web interface.

Two Ways to Upload

After downloading your CSV from WonderAds, you have two options for getting it into your Google Ads account.

Option 1: Google Ads Editor (recommended) — A free desktop application from Google that lets you review, edit, and bulk-upload campaigns offline before pushing them live.

Option 2: Google Ads Web Interface — Upload directly through the Google Ads website without installing any software. This is faster but gives you less control over reviewing changes before they go live.

Option 1: Google Ads Editor (Recommended)

Google Ads Editor is a free desktop application available for Windows and macOS. It is the preferred method because it lets you review every campaign, ad group, keyword, and ad before posting anything to your live account.

Download Google Ads Editor from the official page: https://ads.google.com/intl/en/home/tools/ads-editor/

Once installed, follow these steps to import your WonderAds CSV:

  1. Open Google Ads Editor and sign in with your Google Ads account.
  2. Click "Account" in the top menu, then select "Import" > "From file...".
  3. Select the CSV file you downloaded from WonderAds.
  4. Google Ads Editor will parse the file and show you a summary of all changes — new campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and ads.
  5. Review the imported items carefully. You can click through each campaign and ad group to verify the structure, keyword match types, and ad copy.
  6. If everything looks correct, click "Post" in the top-right corner to push the changes to your live Google Ads account.
  7. Select "Post all" or choose specific items to post, then confirm.

Google Ads Editor lets you make last-minute adjustments before posting. You can edit bids, pause specific campaigns, or tweak ad copy — all before anything goes live.

Option 2: Google Ads Web Interface

You can also upload the CSV directly through the Google Ads website without installing any software. This method is faster but provides fewer review options.

Sign in to Google Ads at: https://ads.google.com

Then follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account at ads.google.com.
  2. Click "Tools" (wrench icon) in the top navigation bar.
  3. Under "Bulk actions", select "Uploads".
  4. Click the blue "+" button to start a new upload.
  5. Select "Upload a file" and choose the CSV file from WonderAds.
  6. Google Ads will process the file and show a preview of changes. Review the summary for any errors or warnings.
  7. Click "Apply" to push the changes to your account.

The web upload applies changes more immediately than Google Ads Editor. Double-check your CSV in WonderAds before uploading to avoid pushing unintended changes directly to your live account.

Which Method Should I Use?

For most users, Google Ads Editor is the better choice. Here is when to use each:

Use Google Ads Editor when:

— You are uploading a large account structure (hundreds of campaigns or thousands of keywords). — You want to review and edit items before they go live. — You want to make bulk adjustments (e.g. change all bids, pause certain campaigns). — You are uploading for the first time and want to be cautious.

Use the Google Ads web upload when:

— You are making a small, incremental update to an existing account. — You have already verified the CSV and want the fastest path to going live. — You do not have access to install desktop software.

After Uploading

Once your campaigns are live in Google Ads, there are a few things to check:

Verify campaign status — Make sure all campaigns and ad groups are set to "Enabled" (or "Paused" if you want to review before activating).

Check ad approval — Google reviews all ads for policy compliance. This usually takes a few hours. You can check the status in the "Ads" tab.

Monitor initial performance — Give your campaigns 2-4 weeks of data before making major changes. Check search terms reports to see which queries trigger your ads.

Adjust budgets — After the initial period, shift budget towards match types and campaigns that perform best. See the "The WonderAds Concept" article for guidance on budget allocation strategy.
